Waweig River
Waweig River
Class: II-III- | Length: 6km |
Location: Oak Bay | Character: Small Creek |
Gauge: Gauge Rock | Contributor: Matthew Hall |
General Description
The Waweig River is a fun little class 2 run with two larger rapids (could be class 3 at high water). It is a low volume river and requires a large rainfall (hurricane amounts) or snow melt in early spring. Usually when other rivers have too much water to safely navigate the Waweig has enough to be fun and playful. There is also a fun little falls a short walk-up Pout Brook from the confluence. https://goo.gl/maps/tNTCugPLwgCd4TaG9
Hazards
The river characteristics are similar to the Dennis Stream. Wood is almost always an issue. Currently there is a large pine tree across the river between the powerline and hatchery. https://goo.gl/maps/HJ4wtFLVJNCJzF2VA
