Location: Outer Bay of Funday | Character: Creek |
Gauge: | Contributor: Matthew Hall, John Adams |
General Description
The Lower Dig is a fun little section. It’s short and sweet making self shuttle very easy and park and plays at the Basin Falls easy as well. There are three very different main drops on this section. All three requiring a different level for them to be perfect. When the first rapid is perfect chances are the other two are too high. When Hidden Falls is good the first one is too low and the falls might be on the high side of runnable. When the Basin falls is good the other drops are too low and it is just a park and play.
Hazards
These rapids can become very big and technical with increased volume. When the river is high/flood levels there are many holes that will need to be avoided of boofed over. Scout each main drop for wood as it has been an issue in the past on this section.

Gauge
There is no gauge. We use a combination of the Dennis Stream Gauge and the Magaguadavic River Gauge to guess if it’s high enough to paddle. The Digdeguash Watershed falls between these two rivers. As we don’t make the trip primarily for this river section it is easy to jump off the Highway to check it in person when you drive by to paddle other rivers in the South West.
