Tay river
Class: I-III | Length: 23km |
Location: Fredericton, NB | Character: stream |

General Information
The beauty of this small river is long stretches of continuous whitewater. For a 23km run, it goes by quickly as the current pushes you along at a good pace. I would consider the majority of the rapids to be long sets of class I-II. The largest rapid is Tay falls (class II-III?) and is roughly 6.5km from the end, shortly after passing under power lines. Tay falls is a ledge which can be run either river right or left (nasty hole in the middle). It is a bit hidden around a bend in the river so could present a hazard if someone goes around the bend unprepared.

Hazards
Steep descent at the put-in. Sweepers and strainers. Continuous stretches of whitewater which could make getting to shore challenging in the case of a capsize.

Gauge
Gauge is on the Nashwaak river and not very accurate, but for a rough reference, 19.1 + good 20.0 high People tend to use the concrete bridge footing as a reference. Roughly 4-12 inches above concrete footing is good. 16 inches over footing is high.
