North Branch Rusagonis stream
Class: I | Length: 8-13.5km |
Location: Fredericton, NB | Character: Small stream |
Gauge: Gauge | Contributor: François Côté |
General Information
The North branch of the Rusagonis stream is smaller and overall has a calmer character compared to the South branch. That being said, the section from Charters Settlement to Roby’s rd (downstream from the 101) is pretty fast and exciting in high water. For a nice calm 8km run, put in at Roby’s rd and paddle down to the covered bridge at the confluence with the South Branch. This stretch is mostly calm paddling with a couple small ledges. It can be a good place to practice basic skills.
Named Rapids
There are no named rapids on this run.
Hazards
Watch out for sweepers and strainers, especially in the section between Charters Settlement and Roby’s rd. This section is pretty fast so they can sneak up on you.
