South Branch Oromocto River
South branch Oromocto river
Class: III | Length: 11km |
Location: Fredericton, NB | Character: Creek |
Gauge: Gauge | Contributor: François Côté |
General Information
This is a small class III river which feels more like a creek. It has a steep gradient and a lot of rapids separated by a few stretches of flat water. Despite the gradient, none of the individual rapids are too big. The put-in is at the outflow of South Oromocto Lake and take out is at the bridge on Sand Brook Road. Another 1km or so downriver from the bridge is a very nice waterfall which I believe to be un-runnable.
Named Rapids
There are no named rapids on this run.
Hazards
Sweepers and strainers are common on this river. There is a waterfall 1km down river from the take-out.
